Parable
Pushed right over
to the side
By this and that but
mainly by
Heavier traffic on
the winding road,
I try life in the
gutter.
The fluorescent road
workers ignore me,
But two wary magpies
picking
At the carmine flesh
of a road-kill fox
Eye me bleakly as
they dig their
Beaks deep and recycle
the cadaver.
Two for joy, they
say, two for joy.
